So Payton is getting close to 2 1/2 years old now and we are sick of changing his poopy diapers! We are hoping to start potty training him after Thanksgiving, but it is our first time so we don't really know where to start. We could really use advice and pointers from anyone who has some experience in this area. Potty Training Advice Needed!

Emma's Blessing
We blessed Emma on Sunday, November 2nd. All of the family came over before church for our little gathering. Emma looked so beautiful in her dress, thanks to her Aunt Cheri in Georgia that made it for her! (Thanks again Cheri!!)
Payton loved having his cousins at his house to play with and to sit by at church. It was a pretty fun day for him too.Megan's brother Jeff and wife Heather also blessed their baby Ginger on the same day! It was pretty cool to share the special day with them. They had their family gathering after church, so we all got to go to both.
Cute little baby Emma and Ginger both looked so beautiful. They were both very good and slept through the blessings their dads gave them. No screaming babies for the microphone to pick up here! :)

Halloween
Payton and Megan carved the pumkin this year. This was the first time that Payton really got to help. He was very hesitant at first to put his hand in and pull out the pumkin goop. 
Mommy is not a big fan of messes, so he didn't think it would be okay. But he did think it was pretty cool that she would put her hands in it and that she would let him do it too.
Payton was a little Swiss boy and Emma was a cute little bumblebee. We taught Payton how to yodel, and also say trick-or-treat. He thought it was pretty cool that people would give him candy and that mommy and daddy actually let him eat some of it!
We got together with the Haroldsen family and had all the grandkids in their costumes. Tanner and Payton both had on their leiderhosen that MOH and Kimberly got them from Switzerland last year. They looked pretty darn cute together!

Family Update
Payton is finally learning how to be a little softer with his sister, slowly but surely! He loves to give her hugs and kisses all the time. If he walks into the room with me and I am not holding Emma, he is quick to look around and see where she is. I think he likes having her around.
Payton ran out the door one day and decided he wanted to ride the Jetski's in our driveway. Who say's you need a big lake to have fun on one of these?

If you ever come over to our house, Payton would love to show you his new bed! He has had it for a few months, but we are under the impression that he REALLY likes it and always wants people to see it. It is very cute! He also likes to sleep between the bed and the wall sometimes, why sleep on it when you can squish next to it?

Emma has the cutest little cry, she sounds so girly. Here is a little clip of it. Notice what Payton says in the background at the beginning, funny kid.
In case you can't understand him, he says "Baby Emma, stop!" If Emma cries too much (which is not very often) he usually says that, but she rarely listens. :)

Emma's First Month
Here is a glimpse into Emma's first month in this world.
This is Emma's first ride in her carseat and then how she looks in it at one month. She is definately not having any problems gaining weight. At her two weeks appointment she had grown two inches and gained 1 lbs. 5 oz!

Our new family of four! Megan's dad made this stork to put in our yards whenever a baby is born announcing their arrival, it is a dutch thing.
Payton loves his little sister, but he is still learning how to be soft with her and that he is not allowed to pick her up, lay on her, or hit her. Though he doesn't seem to mind sharing with her, one day he decided to give her his puppy and "nigh', nigh'" because she was sleeping. It was very sweet. He has also tried sharing his goldfish and cherry tomatoes with her...
Our sweet baby girl is a little angel. She is sleeping 6 hours at night between feedings, she rarely cries, and she is very mellow. She seems to have her mommy's personality! (Megan is very happy about this, Payton wears her out!) Emma also showed us her first real smile at one month! Megan was lucky enough to actually get a picture of it!

Emma
Born September 4th, 2008 - 7 Pounds 8 ounces - 20 1/2 inches in length.
She is sleeping most of the time as can be expected.
So far she is doing really well with nursing, and loves to have her binky, and holds it with her hand.
She is lifting her head up for a few seconds at a time, which took Payton weeks to do - guess she is wanting to look around.
Unlike her cousin Skylar who is a noisy sleeper, Emma doesn't make a noise - which of course keeps us on the lookout for her breathing and makes us that much more paranoid.
Emma will join her big brother at home on Saturday (assuming all continues to go well) then mommy and daddy have the fun job of around the clock parenting! Sleep is over-rated anyway.......isn't it?

Baby time
8:13 AM - Well here we are at the hospital – All is well for mommy and baby. We got up at 6:30 and called the hospital and they gave us the go ahead to come in for Megan's induction. We are listening to the baby's heartbeat and they are getting Megan all hooked up to the machines, and signing her life away saying that we will give them everything other than the baby, I think they just want money, go figure.They haven't checked Megan's status yet other than maybe her heartrate – but as they do I'll try to keep posting updates for those interested in knowing what is happening.They are promising a much shorter delivery – 8 hours or less – let's hope they can keep to that for Megan's sake we don't need another 30 hour labor.

9:13 AM - Doctor gave approval for them to break Megan's water - though it could still be a while for that as they have to just catch a doctor between other patients in order for that to happen. But so far so good! (Petocin was started at 9:10AM)

9:55 AM - A Doctor showed up to break Megan's water. The process is really started now! Though the doctor almost got pushed off the bed as Megan used her leg to try to hold her off!(unintentionally) They asked Megan to not push her off the table it was pretty funny. Megan was dilated to a 2 plus and at least 80% effaced at this point.

10:06 AM - Contractions are picking up and getting more intense.

10:42 AM - Regular contractions, and Payton is here now and keeps saying "Baby come out" but no major changes in the last 35 minutes.

11:20 AM - No change yet! Just waiting for Emma to join us!

12:04 PM - Contractions are closer together and Megan requested to be put on the list for an Epidural - though they are saying it will be at least an hour to get one. Megan's mom Wendy is massaging Megan's legs and feet to keep her mind off the contractions. Amazing what mom's go through to bring us guys kids! Kudos to all the mommies out there.

12:50 PM - Major Contractions now - lots of pain. Epidural Doc is working on giving her the epidural now. (Marcus has to look away for this part - Not a big fan of large gauge needles) In a matter of minutes Megan should be feeling much better! It must be getting close now - they shouuld be checking her dilation before too long following the epidural. Our nurse doesn't want us to forget her, Jeanie like a Genie in a Bottle - now she won't be forgotten for sure!

1:45 PM - Megan is feeling much more relaxed and they were able to check her dilation which is now at a 4 and 85% effaced. (A 10 is the max on dilation and from 8 to 10 it typically goes fast for those not familiar with the birthing process.)

2:45 PM - Still waiting, though Megan is feeling much better and is actually able to relax a little. Megan's sister Nicole also arrived to say hi. And Nick,Megan's dad brought Payton earlier, but has since left to take Payton back home and Nick has returned for all the action!

3:10 PM - they just checked Megan and she is dilated to a 6 and is 90% effaced so we're hoping it's less than 2 1/2 hours left, time will tell.

4:16 PM - Megan is up to a 9+ so she'll be delivering really soon now.
4:55 PM - They called the Doctor and plan to deliver in about 20 minutes - I may not be able to write again until afterwards. I hope to help with the delivery and that will slightly impede my blogging! I will update ASAP once the baby is with us and things are slightly settled.
5:20 PM Emma joined our family - .... 7 pounds 8 oz / 20.5 inches!!! Officially born at 5:20 PM - What a blessing and a joy. We are so happy to welcome a healthy little girl to this world.

Pregnant Ladies
Apparently if you are Nick and Wendy's kid, or married to one, and married you will have a baby this year! There was absolutely no planning involved, it just kinda happened. Linda had her baby in May, Nicole is due in August, Megan's is due in September, and Heather's is due in October. 
It is pretty fun for Megan to be pregnant with her sister Nicole, this is most likely the only time it will ever happen and to only be a month apart is way cool!
New York
In the middle of July we got to go to New York for a long weekend with Marcus' Dad and Kimberly! It was so much fun. It was the first time for Marcus, Megan went a long time ago when she was like 13. Payton stayed home with Grandma and Papa (Megan's parents) and had a blast with them. We got to see a lot of cool sights.
We stayed in a hotel just a few blocks away from Times Square. That is a pretty cool place to see at night all lit up. 
We went to the "top of the Rock," which is the Rockefeller Center, at night and got to see a great view of the city at night. 
We got a cool picture of the Empire State Building all lit up.

The next day we went on top of Empire State and got a great daytime view of the city. It is amazing how many tall buildings there are there. 
Later that night we got to go and see Wicked!!! Megan was very excited, she has been wanting to see this show for a few years now, so it was awesome for her to finally see it. It was very good! Thankfully everyone else liked it too, since she told them we had to go see it. :)
We also went to the Museum of Natural History (the one from the movie Night at the Museum). It was pretty cool to see, but it didn't look too much like the movie.
We also went to Central Park, of course! It is so amazing that they have this huge park in the middle of a towering city. While we were there we had to stop at a hot dog stand and get a hot dog. Megan forgot that Marcus wanted to take a picture, so hers was pretty much gone by that time! Dang hungry pregnant lady! :)
Last but not least we went to see the Statue of Liberty. She hasn't aged one bit! :) It is fun to see so many places that you see frequently in the movies. It makes them a little more real.
